HISTORY OF GAZI UNIVERSITY KASTAMONU FACULTY OF EDUCATION

Kastamonu Faculty of Education started its educational facilities under the name of "Girls' Normal School" in 1956.This school lasting three years of education admitted students from secondary school graduates through an examination.
In 1970, the faculty moved to the building used now. The school served under this title until the year 1975 when it became a two-year educational institute.
Fr4om then on, it accepted students from among high-school and equivalent school graduates. In 1982 it was renamed as College of Education under Gazi University Gazi Faculty of Education in the same year and trained classroom teachers.  In the academic year 1989-1990, under the same name, the duration of education was increased to four years and kept training classroom teachers for primary schools.
In accordance with the 29th additional article of the faculty act numbered 3837 dated 03.07.1992, the institute was reformed as a faculty and was joined directly to Gazi University in the academic year 1992-1993. Later the departments and programs of the faculty were redesigned in the light of the project aiming at developing national education in 1998.

  Education is carried out with 83 academic members of staff in Kastamonu Education faculty. 2 Professors, 2 associate professors, 22 assistant professors, 45 Lecturers, 5 Instructors, 2 specialists (experts) and 5 research assistants are employed in our faculty in 2006.
